On 13-14 December 2013 CINTIA kick-off conference was held in Venice. Italian pension economists gathered at Ca’Foscari University to set up a research network on old-age security. A small group of foreign economists joined them for this occasion, among them professor Marek Góra representing the Polish Pension Group SGH.
CINTIA (Centro Interuniversitario Netspar Italy) is a centre for research on pensions and pension related issues created by a group of Italian universities, namely Ca’Foscari University of Venice, Bocconi University, University of Bologna, University of Padova and University of Turin. The initiative is supported by Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A.
„Cintia aims at bridging the gap between scientific research and policy-making in the area of welfare, public pensions, private insurance provisions, household finance and population ageing.” [ www.cintia-italy.it ]
The Italian network plans to cooperate closely with Dutch Netspar. It is initially agreed PPG will also be actively seeking opportunities for cooperation with both nets. It seems that a net of local pension networks is being created in the European research space.
